As part of our PSHE: Keeping Myself Safe Topic, we visited South Tyneside Fire Station to learn how we can keep ourselves safe when playing outside.
The aims of RAP are;
1. To Explore major risks for our age group in a safe environment
2. To learn basic first aid skills
- To know when our actions are affecting the safety and comfort of those in our community
The workshops were very informative and helped us determine the dangers that we may come across when we are playing.
The workshops we participated included:
- Working with the RNLI to recognise dangers around open water
- Looking at anti-social behaviour and how it affects our local area and our community
- Discussing what would happen if we found ourselves in a house fire with Fire Fighters
- Looking at sustainable travel with Sustrans
- Keeping safe on our bikes with Bikeabilty
- Learning about improvements to the transport system with the Nexus and the Metro
We came away having a secure knowledge of how we can protect ourselves as we grow older and gain more independence.
