Sport plays a vital role in the life of our school and our pupils. It is far more than physical activity; it is a powerful vehicle for developing character, confidence and lifelong skills. Through sport, pupils learn the importance of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Engagement, which are at the heart of our school’s values. For some children, sport provides a unique pathway to success, achievement and self-belief, enabling them to shine both in and beyond the classroom.
We recognise that opportunities for competitive sport can be limited for many of our pupils. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to represent the school and participate in competitive sporting events throughout each year group. Alongside this, our highly successful OPAL Play programme plays a significant role in promoting physical activity, encouraging children to stay active, develop social skills and enjoy the benefits of active play every day.
Our Sports Premium funding is essential in allowing us to extend and enhance the sporting experiences available to our pupils. The funding enables us to provide a wider range of opportunities, increase participation, develop staff expertise and ensure that all children, regardless of background or ability, can access high-quality physical education, competition and enrichment activities. The plan below outlines how our Sports Premium funding is allocated and the impact it has on improving outcomes for our pupils.
